Franklyn Oliver's 'Jupiter I-IV'

Franklyn Oliver’s ‘Jupiter I-IV’, written for Trinity Laban’s Rude Health Composition Festival 2020.

This piece portrays Jupiter, and its four Galilean moons; Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. The moons are represented in this piece by four singers, three of which orbit the central planet. The notes sung, and the duration of these, are based on the time it takes for light to travel from the moons to the planet, and how long it takes for the moons to orbit.
