ANNA PYCH

is a Polish soprano based in the United Kingdom. Her recent stage appearances include the world premieres of Edward Jessen's operatic sonic theatre works Syllable (nominated for the Ivors Composer Awards) in the role of Kael, as well as Plantation A… (Grimeborn Opera Festival, Arcola Theatre, Arnolfini Arts Bristol) as A…; Jennifer Hamilton's jukebox opera Strozzi! in the role of Paulina for TL Opera, and Blow's Venus and Adonis in the role of the Shepherdess for Blackheath Halls Opera. In scenes, she has appeared as Vixen in Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen, Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Walter in Catalani’s La Wally, Rosalinde in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte.

Recently, Anna has been awarded 3rd place in A Ramsay Calder Debussy Prize for Voice and Norma Grieg French Song Prize with her duo partner Eléna Esposito.

She has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Anne Sofie von Otter (Wigmore Hall masterclass series), Malcolm Martineau, Susan Bullock, Judith Howarth, John Mark Ainsley, Karen Cargill, Ailish Tynan and Dr Ron Morris. Anna was a 2023 SongEasel Young Artist.

Anna is currently studying towards her Masters degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under Wilma MacDougall; her studies are generously supported by SPK WB Foundation and Tameside Polish Community Charity. She has graduated with First Class honours from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, United Kingdom, where she honed her craft under the tutelage of Sophie Grimmer and Andrew Matthews-Owen, and conducted research on empowering women in opera.

Aside from performing, Anna is a passionate educator and is currently developing resources for singers that make singing Polish repertoire more accessible.
